Any reason to not do this? Nothing in it but RODI. I have powerheads & pump in sump running. I added heaters this past weekend & temperature has been stable for 2 days now.

Thanks guys.

I have the 200gal box. My total volume is approx 150. Plans are to add 1 of the 4 bags tonight & wait a day or so to add the next. For the 3rd bag, I'd like to add about half of the 3rd bag, then measure salinity & adjust as needed.

So you do or don't have livestock? I'm confused... If nothing's in the tank dump 2.5-3 bags at once and mix the piles of salt with your hand. If you do have livestock buy a brute trash can to mix the salt for 24 hrs.

Be sure to leave some space for rocks and sand, that will displace some of the volume. If there is nothing living in the tank then it's fine to mix in tank. But this would be the only time. Must mix in a separate container and aerate prior to adding once you have livestock of any kind

No livestock. Thanks

I would pour it slowly into the return section of your sump so the return pump can help you mix it up better. If you are guessing at ~150g total volume, start with about 2 1/2 bags and go from there.

^^^^^^^

This is how I did it. I put the salt in my sump and let the steady flow dissolve everything. Didn't have to worry about mixing it by hand, simplicity at its best

The only problem I can see is if you add it to fast you could raise the tds to high in one area and it could precipitate out. Just add it slowly enough that it stays suspended in the water column before it totally dissolves.
