Can i see YOUR 40g SPS dominate breeder?

Hi all,

I want to see some 40g sps dominate breeders / sumps / specs / lighting ...ect.

Reason being im debating on what i should get light wise for mine. I want to upgrade from this crappy Corallife 20w halide +2-65w PC's to either a ATI 6 bulb sunpower or 2-250w's on lumen____ reflectors/ ? ballasts with 20k bulb.

Im at a loss at what i want. My SPS are colorful and happy, but i hate the fixture so i want to get some ideas of what i could do.

400w radium/ Lumen Elite reflector, diy 10g sump with 110 octo skimmer, mag 12 for return, MP 20 and MJ1200 with mod for flow, RK lite, frankensteined Ca reactor. I run GFO and carb in a reactor as well

How high is your 400w over the tank itself? I wanted to do radiums as well, but i hear they are HAAAAAAAAARRRRDDDD to find right now.

Im not concerned with temperatures because i have a chiller so i would like to stay with halides, but thats only if i can get a radium. The colors it produces are insane.

Happen to have a FTS?

Also, what kind of reactor are you using for both your GFO / Carbon. Ive been debating on using a BRS one for both or single OR just bag the carbon in my diy 20g long sump inbetween the baffles.

What kind of ballast are you using to drive your raidum? I hear you want to go with a E- Gallaxy or something to get the best out of it. Correct me if im wrong, but either way i need a E ballast if i do go that route.

@Dbarsotti, Nice tank bud! I like that fixture. T5 + 2 150w, cant beat that. You have nice colors too and i know that you can get a 150w DE radium. What brand fixture it that or did ya do it yourself?

Here is mine. I run 1 250w, 2 is way to much and 1 400w is also IMO. I was running 2 150w but I like the 25ow much better. My sps colors such due to my water source.

my BB 40B- 2-250w phoenix's in lumenmax's, 6w stunner, swc 160 cone skimmer, phosreactor with carbon, mag drive 700 return, mp20, aquacontroller JR.

Here's mine. It's really not much to look at yet, but hopefully it will be pretty nice in about a year or so. The tank is only 5 months old and it's loaded w/ sps. Unfortunately most of the frags are so small that you can't really even see them in the pics. Stats are in my sig.

They are various retro kits. The 150's and one set of the T5's are from hellolights, and the other set of T5's are fired by an icecap 430. The lighting in the pic I posted looks a little funny because only one of the halides was on. I have them staggered, and the one on the left side of the tank was already turned off for the day.

I run 1 250 mh 14k hamilton with 2 96w pc super actinics. Awesome. Might switch to an xm 10k to give it a try.

I took this tank down in Feb to upgrade to a 75 rimless. It was a pretty simple setup. 2x150 watt sunpod running Phoenix 14k bulbs, nw110 octopus skimmer. 10 gallon water changes every two weeks with no two part or reactor. I used bio pellets for the last three months of the tank. I only added kalk to my top off water and that's it.

dan in your old post there are alot of small sps on the glass. how did you attach them there. did you super glue them or just use magnets? ive rand out of room for mine and wouldnt mind doing that for a little more space. i have about 50 frags right now in my 40

I was using frag mags. They work well for tabling acros.
