i was wondering....

currently my G.Smithii lives in a rock that he has smashed out.

his door faces down now, and the cavity goes up and to the right.

i was wonderin since a downward facing door isn't the best viewing position, could i flip the rock over, puttin his lil door front and center?

im apprehensive because i wonder about the stress of flippin his up to down?

it be like turnin his loft into a basement.....

I would assume Bane put his hole where he wanted it. IMO he would just bash out another one under the rock, if you flipped it. After giving you the bird, of course...

I have learned that once a mantis wants his or her burrow the way they want it, they are going to have it that way no matter what.

I turned my G smithii's burrow (entire rock) around and he was fine with it. He never did make hiself any holes though. Just used ones that already existed.

Gonodactylids such as G. smithii frequently live in small pieces of rubble that are rolled around by the current and waves.. In nature, their rocks are frequently flipped. About the only way it won't continue to occupy it is if the entrance is totally obstructed. They may not like it and try to modify things, but if there are no other suitable alternatives, they will take it, like it or not.
