Can I use a 100 DE MH in a 250w fixture?

Title says it all. I have been running 3 250 watt DE fixtures for years. My reef has gradually changed over the years and I may only need 100w. Just wondering if the fixtures and ballasts will run lower wattage bulbs without a problem. I know you can't add higher wattage bulbs.

You can retro-fit a 150w de socket in 250w de reflector but you will need 150w ballast...

You can buy the sockets and screw them into the reflectors. You will need different ballasts.
