Can i use a 175w mh with a 250w electronic ballast

As the title says, i have a 250w electronic ballast and currently only have a few 175 bulbs, would this work? I would assume they both run on the same voltage so the smaller bulb will just draw less amps than the 250w

NO, ballasts are bulb specific.

Thank you, i was thinking maybe you could go lower wattage but not higher
