Can I use a Tidy Cats litter bucket for gravity ATO?

I am setting up a gravtiy feed and have this bucket laying around that will fit in the space that I am thinking of perfectly. It also seals well and has a handle and best of all it is FREE. Another reason I want to use it is because it is square which will alow the bulkhead to sit flush. Can I use it? Anyone know of cat litter leaching anything into the water? It has been cleaned thoroughly of course and I am wanting to put a bulkhead down at the bottom and then run the hose to my float switch

I have the 27lb fyi. hold approx 4gal I think.

As long as it is cleaned well I wouldn't worry about it. I would probably fill it with water and let a powerhead circulate for a day or two in case anything leftover leeches from the pores of the plastic.

There is undoubtedly some hand-wringer who will say no no no, but I really see no problem myself and wouldn't think twice about it.

I have heard that the puffer queen used them for QT tanks when in a bind so they must be fine to use with a little cleaning
