Can I use high temperature to kill velvet in a QT?

I suspect my quarantine tank with cycled dry rock may have been exposed to velvet. Can I crank up the temp to kill the velvet and then let the tank recycle to avoid the 6 to 8 week fallow period? Like 100 plus degrees Fahrenheit?

There is nothing in the tank other than cycle dry rock.

I don't think 100 would do it, but I'm not sure. I'm pretty confident it takes oxidation (H2O2, bleach), drying, or boiling to kill the cysts.

Raised temperature will not help. NO residual water would help but how in the world can you do that with rock. Six weeks fallow works.

While you're at it; I'd just remove the LR. LR in a QT makes accurately dosing meds almost impossible. An easy way to cycle a QT is to use a HOB filter (I really like Aqua Clear) and keep the filter sponge/ceramic noodles in the flow of your main system. Adding this cycled media to your QT filter when needed will instantly cycle a QT. Also, there are a couple of bacteria-in-a-bottle additives that actually work: Dr. Tim's and Bio-Spira.
