Can someone ID and help with problems please

I have had this mound for sometime now and it has always done really good. Very good polyp extension and has always looked generally hardy. Well lately (past couple of days) the very bottom has bee turning to mush and very brown. The stuf sometimes comes off and where there was once polyps there is no more there. It swells up alot. I had puchased a Rose BTA and I think it touched it so I moved the "mound" and now this is happening.Thanks everyone

Looks like gonipora to me. They can be tough to keep. What are your water parameters? Is anything else in the tank stressing?

could it be from the anem touching it? params are good

Its doing exactly what Goniopora are renowned for doing Im afraid. You may want to tour THIS SITE to get a little more information on the coral and to see what steps you can take to try and save it.

For what its worth, it looks like that Bubble Coral (?) is really close to it. Whether its a coral or anemone, its certainly close enough to have jump started the damage.

That is not the spot it was originally in I just put it there today. The photo is a bit decieving and there is about 4-5inches beteween the two. I know the anem touched it several times and in the exact spot this stuff is growing or whatever it is doing. Is the whole thing going to die. Should I take it out of the tank? Will it cause problems for anything else. I was just on that site. Some pretty good info. I am pretty confidant it was the anem. Everything was great until it touched it. But mayed I am wrong

Nothing is stressed in the tank. Cup coral has very good polyp extension. Wesophyllia is very swollen and happy. Anem is very happy. Oh yeah this is 100th post!!

Thats a gonipora. Like decent to good flow. feed phyto.

I agree that it is Goniopora. Tends to be hard to keep. You need to feed it cyclopeeze and oyster eggs. It also perfers "dirty" water.

I am sure the anemone did not help, you might want to pass it along to someone if you plan on keeping more corals.

I would like to give you great news, but like the others, you have bought the one coral that will die if stung and not constantly fed. Best of luck, but better yet, know what you are buying before you buy it, and know how to keep it alive. Trust me it will save lots of money
