I have had this clam since April and he had stuck hit foot onto the rock, but he started to creep towards the front of the rock until he fell off, he reattached briefly, but not very solidly. Now he looks like this. My water is fine, I have recently treated for red slime and hair algea with chemiclean and mark weiss magic.

it looks like it gaping a little(croceas do that, not to worry)but other then that it looks fine.what dont you like?what has you worried

OK maybe I am missing something here. My Crocea does not have an opening or hole where The shell hinges together down underneath the mantle where I think I see a hole on this clam.

it's there;)

The byssal gland is there and he extends his (foot). They are really a bunch of threads.
On a seperate note I don't think there is any thing "magic" about Marc Weiss stuff. IMO

Why is he open where the shellhinges together?

the hinged part of the shell is not in the pic you posted,if you turn the clam around 180 that would be where the hinge would be.

the first pic i dont see anything under the clam, the 2nd one it looks like you have a half of a clam shell under it.if the shell is still under it and its sitting the way it is in the pic ,it should be fine like that

hey guys, check this out. this is my crocea. and i have this hole in him too. i was wondering if it is just the byssal opening or something else? is it a bad thing?

did you read this thread?

yes. in fact i did. i just have to make sure wht that hole is. from wht i'm reading its the byssal opening. but on a couple other threads the hole is due to snails and other things, which are negative. from ur response i'm gonna guess its the byssal opening. so am i gonna be okay?
