Can someone please update the ETRC Web site

tats...the site is going to be a topic of conversation at the next meeting, i'll feel out everybody's thoughts on it. we appreciate the offer, but the club doesn't have much in the way of funds to pay...which is why we're looking for someone in-house.

thanks!

Looking over it now. I'll send you a PM with anything I find. That is a definite jump in the right direction. Thanks, Donny!

EDIT: Very good job, Donny. You have given it a very finished look. I sent along a few suggestions. I'd like to see some of the old content thread in to show the meeting history and the like. Is that something you said can be done by anyone with the admin password?

EDIT EDIT: Is there a way to add a tab for "Articles" or "Photo Pages"? It would be a cool thing if we could "blog" in an article and upload photos. Not sure how easy that would be. We have a few good older pics that would add some color to the site. And I would love to see a way to add some in the future.

Great job. Unless we find something wrong, I have looked a little and have not found anything, I would say leave it the way it is as far as adding new areas of interest. When we meet at the March meeting (come, everyone that can, please come), we can discuss changes/additions that the club would like to see.

Thanks much, again.

Looks like a nice logo for a T-shirt too, Dana, huh. I would like to have an ETRC T-shirt for the swap for sure.

Thanks everybody. I have gotten a few comments/suggestions and have corrected them so far. Scott gave a bunch, so good eye!

Scott, I have place an article's category and Member's tanks category. As soon as an article or a Member's tank article gets posted, they will pop up.

About other changes... When making the site, I tried to take all of the considerations that we have talked about in the last few years. There were a lot of issues that we had to look at for a sustainable website. The biggest problem was allowing a user friendly system that could be passed on from people to people. When designing the site, I took all of this into consideration. Sure, we can add more complicated things, and allow a ton of features. However, from what we learned in the past, most of those features are never utilized, and it will make the website more complicated. This will lead it in becoming less idiot-proof and then becoming unmanageable.

I believe the setup now is simple enough, yet has enough features, to keep the site sustaining. This is just through my experiences of seeing what kind of website the club needed throughout the years. I hope that the new site offers the capabilities needed, yet is still simple enough to not bog anybody down. Let me know of anymore suggestions to make it user friendly. I agree that it would be neat to have a lot more features, however, I do not think the website is ever used enough to utilize them.

Anyways, I think it is now time for me to pass on the torch. I believe that it is set up enough now for people to continue updating it. I hope to get a quick guide available to the updaters. Unfortunately, I think that the site has consumed significantly more time than I had expected. So the guide will have to come later. Any more website updates will be much later as well.

Thanks guys for your comments and suggestions. I hope the site has a good start off the ground now. I believe this is like the 4th or 5th reboot. I hope it works!

p.s. As fee for website services, I believe Scott and I should become honorary ETRC members for life! After all, we (along with Mel) were at the first ETRC meeting ever. Mel should get the honorary membership too. :bounce1:

Here ya go. You three can decide the order. :)

The new look is awesome. Thanks for getting our banner up their as a sponsor. You made extremely quick work of that. Thats awesome.

Crud. I can't see the website from work (it's blocked as Sports/Entertainment). Funny how RC stays open, though -- we must have an executive who is a member.

Donny and Trent...the AM logo looks awesome!

But where did the CR banner go?

I originally made that Coral Reef banner from a photograph I took of the front door. It would probably be better if CR could submit one that meets the standard size requirements so it doesn't flip the content of the page down when it loads into the space assigned to it.
