Can Temperature Swing Cause RTN/STN?

my fans from radio shack used to keep 2 400watt halides from heating the tank up to much around 79-80, untill I got my air ducts redone and they bypassed the air duct in front of the tank! so no air blowing at it anymore which means untill that is fixed i need more fans, they work just as well as a chiller.

When I started this post this morning my temp was at 82.7. Now with fan on sump, it is 80.0!! Hopefully this is the cause for the STN'ing.

Easy, the 2.7 degree temp swing in 2 hours isn't very good, you want it stable.

lucky: that's true, but, I figure if I didn't have the fan on it would have most likely gone up to 84.5/85. But, I do appreciate the warning, thanks.

and.....you're forgetting the hidden cost of trying to explain to my parents that I need to drill a hole in the floor!
