Can urchins be hitchhikers?

I have what looks like a furry brown ball, about 1/2 inch across. It solwly gre out of a rock and now it has moved to another part of the tank. Could an unrchin grow out of an egg in the LR and, if not, any clue what it might be? I'll try to get a pic. It's pretty nondescript.
