Can you Bayer dip LPS?

I'm starting to add some coral to my tank and was wondering if the Bayer dip works for LPS?

Specifically:

Goniopora
Duncanopsammia


What about mushrooms(Actinodiscus) and polyps also?

Do LPS even need to be dipped or is that a SPS thing?

I've dipped just about every type of coral available in Bayer and have never had one react poorly, including each of the types you've listed.

LPS aren't as pest prone as sticks are, so it may be a bit overkill. But, better to be overly cautious than to wind up with something evil in the tank.

I dipped a Greenstar polyp frag and it killed the colony. I always dip new SPS corals with Bayer but usally dip LPS frags with Revive or any other iodine based dip. If you use Bayer on your LPS use a small mixure like 5ml to 2 cups. I used like 15 ml to 2 cups and killed them :headwallblue:

I would definitely dip LPS. I've seen a huge surge in the number of LPS pests lately, such as LPS-eating spiders, various LPS-eating pods, etc.

I do 2 ml's to 2 cups and I dip everything.

Just don't use that and coral rx at the same time. I learned that the hard way. The 2 do not mix. I killed a hammer almost immediatley that way. I've also dipped them separately in both at diffeerent times and they do fine.

LPS eating pods... I had some tiny white pods attacking my frogspawns to the point of complete closure. Coral rx did nothing to those pods. Bayer wiped the pods out and those frogspawns are growing great now. They were referred to as "white bugs" here but there are only a couple posts on them. Thats how I found bayer.

I use the lowest dosage of Bayer possible to kill any parasites in the hopes of preventing a Bayer-resistant pest. I don't know how likely that is, but I've heard of Interceptor-resistant red bugs already...

I am new to Corals, have Zoa's, Duncan Heads, and now a Hammer. I dip all mine in Coral Rx and have not had problems with it.

Wow, Thank You 64Ivy, I also saw a u-tube video but the man didn't show the packaging in it. Then there were nasty comments on his page and with every video getting nasty remarks it leaves you wondering?? Glad this topic came up, I learned a little something from it. It's worth a shot for me at least. I'll have to be very careful with my selections and treatments. I planned on one big tank and no room for a QT.

Hi There!

I am also new to coral, in fact I am now preparing my water quality for corals . since we are talking about dipping your corals. I ahve a bottel of "CORAL DIP" never been opened but it is already expired. can I use this to dip my coral when I purchased them? by the way, how much time and concentrate to be use when dipping corals?
