Can you ID this anemone?

It was sold to me as an indonesia anemone. Anyone have a clue?

Looks like an anemone called a chocolate something...I forget the actual name. It looks nice though.

Not a true anemone, Pseudocorynactis carribeorum--known to eat fish.

ball anemone i think. Since it had those balls at the end of it's tentacles. Heard they sting clowns. And are fish eaters.

Gary has the genus right, but I don't think its that species.

Like he said, it is not an anemone but more closely related to mushrooms.

It is a corallamorph, and P. caribbeorum is the most common one from FL, but it is not that species if it came from indonesia.

Here is mine, I've had it for several years, it hasn't eaten any fish, but it only opens up at night. It took several months to even open when the moonlights were left on, but now it will stay open if I turn on the lights.

But you said in NJ forum you had a rare indonesian anemone thats worth 500 but you would take 250.

I wanted to make sure people knew exactly what they are buying.

Who's selling one for 500? Here they are free on cultured live rock. The one I have was collected on a night dive, I usually see one or two per dive on night dives. They are not uncommon, but they don't open during the daylight (at least the native ones) and that makes them undesirable in tanks. As colorful as mine is I don't collect any more because during the day when lights are on in my tank it looks like a reddish brown closed up anemone.

The ball-tip anemone is a deepwater collection which is why it is so expensive. This species gets way bigger than the tiny little Caribbean ones that come in on rock and such. Pseudocorynactis species
