Yes you can but i would make sure to connect the pump section with a couple bulkheads and some pvc. if one pump fails the other will pick up the slack and not cause one sump to over flow.

yes, done this on a few large tank builds (700+ gallon)

You just need to keep them kinda close & run a 1.5+ in PVC line connecting the 2 sumps so the water can freely balance itself out
