candy basslets (Liopropoma carmabi)

SPSpirate

2 PART BABY!!!
These guys are expensive! but gorgeous! Deep water basslets are cumbersome to catch...though divers den always has them in stock..and now they have a pair in stock! Who is buying these guys? anybody on here? and if so can we see some pics?:p

I got one for my girlfriend a few months ago. He came from the Divers Den. I can say that pictures do not do these fish justice. They are so amazing in person, and have so much personality.

Here are a few pictures from Megan's tank

I can honestly say that this was the best money that I have spent for any of my tanks. This little fish adds so much color and life to the tank.

But I have one question. Is it true they hide alot? Its not so much the price but if you almost never see it then why pay that price?

There are many of us who post frequently have them. Some rather keep there gems to themselves. Ivy has the best carmabi pic ever. T

Several of the threads I have read on here in the last year from keepers of this fish say that after they become comfortable in the tank they come out much more than expected, and they don't act as cryptic as many thought.

If you do a search I am sure you might be able to find one of such threads. But if you do purchase one, expect that for at least the first few weeks, you may not seem him out and about all the time. They are, after all, deepwater fish.

Mine is out and about frequently, but basically, they are a cave and underhang kind of fish. Still, gorgeous for sure.

They are simply gorgeous. I bought a pair last week. They certainly do hide, but not as bad as for example the Fowleria I bought some time ago. Especially when the MH's are off and the tank is lit by T5's only, they are visible. During the day you often have to look for them to find them, but hey... This makes them even more special ;)

If you have a -preferably dimly lit- tank which isn't too crowded (especially very active fishes like triggers would scare them) it is definitely a fish worth considering. My only fish which bothers them is a mystery wrasse.

A few years ago they used to sell for about $150 each, tops. I definitely won't pay that kind of money for them, but they are certainly pretty.

Man, I envy you. I wish these fish were easier to find in Brazil! I'd definitely buy one...they say they're quite shy though.:uhoh2:
