That's still a fine camera. If buying that model gives you an extra $500 to spend on a good lens I say go for it.

ehhh i guess i'll probibly end up the XT and then after i play around with it ill go and by a good lens thank you guys for all of your help... hopeful within the 2 next week ill have some nice pictures to enter into the photo contests.

It's Canon that made adapters for Nikon lenses so that Nikon lenses can be used on Canon bodies. It couldn't be done the other way around due to the design of Canon lenses and Nikon bodies.

Another place that you might want to take a look at for used gear is also on dedicated Canon forums similar to the one that Greg suggested. One that comes immediately to mind is Fred Miranda. As for online vendors with used gear, both B&H and Adorama are great for it. An addition that you can add to the list is KEH.

hey i got a little delayed on buying the camera but i am goin to be buying one this week, and i was wondering if there was an overall good lense that would be good for up close shots in my fish tank and farther away group shots??? thanks
