Oh I completely agree about doing some homework. It's the guys who argue back and forth for 10 pages of posts about which lens is sharpest at 100% crop that bug the heck out of me.
Funny story. I was at Olmstead Point in Yosemite with a workshop. We were there for sunset and it turned out to be some of the most amazing conditions that I've seen. The whole atmosphere glowed pink. Everything that you could see was being illuminated by the glow. You could have taken a picture of a bear turd and it would have been pretty.
There were two guys, not with my group, that both had medium format setups (not cheap) and I swear they didn't take more than a hand full of frames the whole time. They spent nearly the entire time arguing about whether the light was at its peak or whether it was going to get better. THOSE are the guys in the gear forums on just about any photo board.
