Canopy Fans & Interior Paint

So.....per my usual, I am very slowly making my way back and beginning to piece together certain parts of my tank in the new house. Right now my canopy is being finished and I have a couple of questions...

1) I am going to go with some combo of LED's (not sure which yet) and T5 retrofit kits. I have always added Noctua brand fans to my canopies in the past. They are incredibly quiet and durable. I've always used the 120-140mm size that runs at 800 RPM's and 18.5dcb, but now they have a 200mm size that runs at 3000 RPM's and 40dcb. Which do you think I should use?

Personally, I'm of the opinion you can't ever have too much airflow, but I wonder if 40dcb will get on my nerves. In the day, while working in the office, I don't think it will, but since my office doubles as a movie room at night, I wonder if it will then. I guess I could always turn them off via the controller in that situation though.

2) The outside of the canopy will be stained. I'm wondering if I should paint inside with Kilz or perhaps a marine epoxy. Or maybe just a poly clear coat. Thoughts?

As always, thanks for the help!

Stick with the 120-140mm. The 200mm with out a doubt moves some air, but that dcb will get to you after so long.

Was gonna recommend having the canopy built using 1 side formica, but from the sounds of it, it's already nearing completion. In that case, use a couple coats of the Kilz

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the noise level. That said, I think the AC in the room is louder than the fan and the more I think about it, the more I start thinking I can just switch them off via controller when I need some quiet. There is a middle option at 1500 RPMs and at about 30dcb. Seems like a good option.

The canopy did get finished, but I decided to wait because I could cut the fan holes myself when decided.

As of now, it was covered with a clear polycoat. I may go ahead and add the kilz later on.
