Can't find 60"VHO Actinics anymore... LED recommendations

Hey Griss... thanks for the tip on Aquatic Technologies... called them today and they had the 60" VHO Actinic O3's in stock. I placed an order and will see what shows up. The shipping is the killer $80 plus box charge... but this dinosaur hopefully lives for a couple more years :sneaky:

Hey my MH are 250W (single end vertical mount pendant) I did find them on Amazon from Neptunes Aquariums so I ordered one for the dead one. Probably will never find them again though. :(

Glad that worked out for you on the VHO.

On MH, my understanding is, These are pretty much the same as Ushio.

Obviously AqTech wasn't that interested in my biz... after a week with no response from them I called and got a less than urgent response... so I cancelled the order! You would think they wanted to get rid of the dino bulbs! Guess I'll wait for the Quanta Lights Meso Blue LED fixtures to arrive back in stock. Luca said they would be here soon. Fingers crossed

Wow, sorry to hear that. I've never personally ordered from them but, they've been around since the 1990s. Until now, I'd never heard anything negative about them.

I'm an old school reef hobbyist for 30+ years. The reef tank is a std 180g 24x24x72 used as a pennisula walk around. Lighting is (3) Ushio 10K 250W MH pendants & (2) 59"140W VHO Actinics. I have finally used up my supply of VHO O3 bulbs and find that they are all most impossible to find. (liferocknreef have 4 @ $210 shipped)
I am considering switching to blue LED strips but not sure what is a practical choice to achieve what's best for the corals. I am not into the SPS as most everything I have is what has lived in the tank for 20+years and survived my occasional mistreatment 😣. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.View attachment 32408996View attachment 32408997
Mike, I was just writing a thread about T-5 lighting or LED, when I started playing around with the dogs and bam, all that I wrote was gone ! Gerrrr.... Anyway, I'm old school and old man and your thread and the guys that have replied are talking about the same questions I'm wanting to chat about. Would you mind if squeeze in and ask or say different about my path to rejoin the hobby ? There are so,ooo many thread here that are very close to the same things. I'll now go back and read all of the reply's. Let me know if I'm ok talking about my reef as well.

Check out the Quanta Atlas LEDs for a direct replacement of the metal halide fixtures and the Quanta Helix LED bars for your VHO replacement.

That's some of the best lights I've seen and the owner is a great guy. Good prices as well
