Had in two different spots in my tank and both just dwindle away and disappeared.

I have a softy tank with mushrooms and pulsing xenia and many other softy corals

Tank is about 10 years old, had corals for 5 years. I tried different areas not sure what to try next.

They are a plague in my tank even growing on the glass...

Hope you find out why you can't keep them.

About ready just to give up.. tried them on the sand, mid way up and on top, in shade. In about a week they start to thin out and slowly disappear.

Maybe your tank is to clean, i have the same problem with xenia, they don't grow in my tank, but everything else do.

Do you feed your corals?

Have you ever used fluke tabs in the tank or any other chemical disease treatments? I have heard that they get rid of clove polyps / xenia / gsp. I don't have any personal experience with this, though considering how old your tank is, this could be the issue.

No, I haven't used Fluke tabs.. I have pink and blue xenia growing crazy in the tank. I feed the corals BRS Reef Chili Coral Food twice a week.

I have almost the same set-up as your system. I also had the same problem as you have now. Nothing worked for me and I finally gave up. I tried for over a year to establish them in my system. I purchased from different places and relocated them all over the tank with no luck. Never figured it out, so you are not in the boat alone. Good luck and hope you have success.

Way back when a got my first pulsing xenia they disappeared over night. about 2 months later I tired with a bigger colony and it took off. I'm going to try one more time with a bigger colony of the blue cove and hope it works.

You know it's funny that you mentioned that. Every time I tried them in my tank it was with a small frag. I never thought of trying a small colony or rock covered with them. I hope you keep us updated . If you have success I will give them another try. Good luck.

I failed twice to grow them in a BC29. It had been a year now and I got a few of them hitch hiking on another frag. They are taking off now!

The only differance for me is the amount of nutrients. I used to keep keep the tanked starved. I was afraid to overfeed and cause algae. I now keep the tank heavily fed and everything grows much better. N and P are detectable and fluctuate a good bit. Algae comes and goes.

Just my 2cents. Nice colony. Best of luck to ya

I got them from a fellow reefer and they are really bright blue and filled out today. I fed the tank last night Reef Chili. I plain on feeding two to three nights a week now to see if that helps. Do you think I should spot feed them for now

From what I learned about them, they really don't need to be spot feed. If they are spot feed they should grow at a faster rate. Hope this helps.

Was just wondering if I spot fed the coral that would give it a better chance of making it, so it won't die off like the rest.

I can't see spot feeding harming them in any way. I just wouldn't over do it. Maybe a little blast every 3 or 4 days. But, what do I know I couldn't get them to grow in my system. LOL . Good luck and keep us updated.
