Just a shot in the dark, but have you tried putting them up on the rocks? Some corals don't like hanging out on the sand IME. They might need a little more flow also.
I have put high and low on rocks in the tank. I been under the weather for about a month so tank been running on its own via Reefkeeper and dosing pumps. Today I felt better and tested my tank and the Cal is at 398 Alk 10.2 and Phosphate 0.03. The blue cove is getting smaller and doesn't look good but everthing else in the tank is doing very well. I am giving up trying to keep it.
Hey guys I'm in the same boat. I bought mine prob 18 months ago on a rick and they almost completely died off. Now its made a little comeback but not much. I'm now feeding more and have some nitrates and phosphates. All my equipment is really good. I have a 125 acrylic 60 inch tank with 4 ais leds on it.
People pay to have those nuked in their tanks and yet you want to grow them Just kidding but they do make a nice floor (as do green star polyps). Anyway, I have them (on accident mind you) in one of our 29 gallon Bio Cubes with LED lighting. They came on a piece of rock we purchased for another piece of coral. Didn't notice them but over the course of the year they have spread. We noticed it too late has the little buggers hid rather well and actually only had a few tiny bits. Now...they have moved all over the tank. Taken over 1 rock, spread across the tank and mixed in with zoa's now, on another rock with some green button polyps, etc. They are like a horde of locusts
Anyway, all we feed in the tank is photo plankton about once a week and mysis shrimp for the clowns in there. Other coral is green star polyps, 2 rose bubble tips, and a few other misc corals like zoa's and kenya trees. I'm not the best about water changes because I've hurt the tank more than actually helping it judging by how they react after. So your mileage may vary.
Oh, I also dose Kent A and B to help with Calcium, etc. But even that isn't really religeous.
Hope you are feeling better. It's a shame we can't keep these critters alive. Well I have read enough and Iam not going to try these again. Good luck and if they take off let us know.
It seems so. Under most conditions they seem to take off. Unless, they are in my tank. Just keep them away from other rocks and keep an eye on them. You should be fine and if you have to just prune them.
"Keep an eye on them." famous last words.. Personally have a friend who was vigilant in isolating them and ended up tearig his entire tank down and started a new build because of these things. They're cool when they're contained to a small section of the tank, but good luck keeping them contained!
