Can't Make it Tonight

I can't make it to the meeting tonight.

I know elections are tonight. I feel I owe an explanation for this.

Last week they found an ulcer on my father's colon. Two days ago the biopsy came back as cancer. Yesterday the scans showed the cancer had probably NOT metastasized. He's going into surgery at 10 AM today. I'm going to the bay area to be with my parents.

The surgery went well. They did have to go in again to stop some bleeding.
