Can't seem to feed my latz enough.

She's always hungry, and is constantly eating anything that floats by. Even after i feed she still seems like it wasn't enough. Is this normal for a bigger clown? I start to feel bad and give her more, but i can't keep feeding all day long.

My larger clowns eat well, very well, and then they eat a silverside/lancefish when I feed the anemones ;>)

thanks for the reply, glad to hear it's not just me. I thought i just had a soft spot for her and watching it eat partical matter wasn't doing it for me.

I feed my kids several times a day, flake and various frozen foods. My theory (though it may be wrong) is that a well fed fish is a healthy fish. The reefs that they live on don't have set feeding times, so only feeding them a few times a week seems a little cruel to me :( However, I find it necessary to do plenty of water changes to compensate for the immense amount of feeding that I do. You're not alone in having a soft spot for your begging clown :)

Well, thats the funny thing though... my true percs are pretty small, and they don't seem to care when they eat and when they do they get full pretty fast. So having this large clown, and being new to large fish, is just a change i guess. I'll get used to it!

mine eat every time i walk in and out of my office...she (they) isnt (arent) fat, but they look pretty healthy! i'm trying to get her to grow as much as she can, but it seems like everyone in the tank is willing to eat every time i'm willing to feed.

water changes, skim wet, dose phyto/mg/etc...but they all seem happy!

don't ruin my day making me worry about something like that! :)

Despite that funny comment, you should always try to deworm all your fish while they are their first month in quarantine (assuming you have one setup), it is especially helpful when they will be eager to swallow anything (that makes the deworm medication go down easier).

Knowing you from a few of your post, setting up a proper quarantine tank is going to help alot in the long run for your investments (since your purchases are not cheap either).

It was not a funny comment:rolleyes:

My latz also eats very very well and I tend to think that there aren't parasites involved because she's very thick bodied. I could always be wrong but the ones I have seen with parasites tend to get smaller and smaller despite what they eat.

Regardless its handy to have medication and\or food that will help work from the inside out to make your fish a healthy one. At the LFS I work at we treated our fish holding tanks with Prazipro and you wouldn't believe what we saw um, end up exiting the fish I guess is the best way to put it. Because of this we are going to make it a regular monthly treatment in our tanks.
