It's a little beyond that, Bobby. The Genicanthus personatus is not a fish that's common in the hobby. Captive breeding this species is something really special.
It's huge anytime there's another fish breed in captivity. Let alone one as rare as this. Seems like advances in this end of the hobby are really starting to progress rapidly the last few years.
Sorry what I meant to say was that our hobby won't be as criticized by people for taking rare species of fish like this one out of the ocean, its a huge win for us all because that goes to show that rare species can be captive bred in time and that we also care about marine wildlife and the hard time they are going through. I was following the macna posts on f.b. when i seen this article the first time sadly for me i only have biocubes so i can't enjoy having such a rare fish in my tanks anytime soon if they start breeding the heck out of it. I hope that one day i have the privilege of seeing it one of my fellow NYRC reefers tanks though!
No need to apologize It's a good possibility that you'll see one of these beauties on Long Island. I have no doubt that Joe Yiaullo at Atlantis/LI Aquarium is on a list somewhere to bring in as many as he can get. I'm sure they'll breed them there, too now that the ice has been broken.
