Caribbean Cruise

Hey all,

The wife and I are going on a 7day cruise through the Caribbean in early January and have not been diving there before. We would like to dive (and get away from the family :lolspin:) as much as possible during the cruise but read on a few reviews about some poor dives in the area.

So, I was hoping you could tell me... what is the good, bad, and the ugly for scuba in the Caribbean?

I will post our exact itinerary when at home later tonight.

thanks~

Once you tell you us were your stops will be, we can give good advice tailored those places ;) Otherwise there are far too many islands in the Caribbean :)

With only 6 hours in port at San Juan, your not likely to have the time to get any decent dive/snorkeling areas, so I'd stick to the land based stuff there.

Some nice areas in St Maarten for both snorkeling and diving. If they do a speedboat excursion to Saba that includes diving, go for it, it's spectacular with massive boulder size brain corals.

Tortola is definitely a good area for diving. The fabled Treasure Island (Norman's Island) is also close by. Some interesting cave openings at sea level that can be safely snorkeled :D

Didn't do any diving when I was Haiti many years ago, but I expect that area should have some nice reefs.
