caribbean islands

my family has decided that every April vacation, we are going to go diving on a Caribbean island. I got certified this April in St. Lucia which was awesome. What other places have you guys been to that were fun and had good diving?

Belieze, Mayan Riviera and Cozumel, Mexico, Bahamas, and Bonaire all offer great Caribbean diving. I leave for Roatan in two weeks, I'll let you know how that was when I return.

Jamaica IS NOT a good diving local although I love the island.

not to jack your thread... but anyone know about st. kitts? I think i will be going there next summer want to know if diving is ok before anything gets set in stone

I dont think you can really beat roatan. The diving there is phenomenal and the deals you can get even better. Turks and caicos have great diving also, but the trip will cost quite a bit more.

thanks, i might save Roatan for later then if it is so nice and when i am a more experienced diver.

BONAIRE!!!

i am going to be going to Oahu this summer for three weeks for a camp. My parents will be going and they said on my birthday weekend, i can get in a few dives. where would you guys recommend?

My wife and I just got back from Cozumel two weeks ago. Awesome experience! I will post pictures in another thread tommorow. Great drift diving, swim throughs, walls, flats w/ seahorses, a wreck, had a great time. Went with the big apple...Divemasters pointed out the smallest creatures, to include an undiscribed nudibranch sp.

On sundays the locals get together after church in the main square and have a band and party. Great time.

We (wife and I) think we are going to try Bonaire next for photographic opportunities. But, we will return to Cozumel, definately.

Bonaire is excellent. Cozumel is good with lots of great drift dives.

Where did you dive in St. Lucia? I love Soufrierre, did several dives with Anse Chastenet. Ladera rules as resorts go! Jade Mountain is the new one that may even be better (even have a.c.!)

roblack, i did most of the dives on the west side such as Superman's Flight and Anse Cochon. I also did the Lesleen M wreck and might have done the Anse Chastanet. I dove other places that i cant recall right now. I stayed at Marigot Bay and had an awesome snorkel right outside the hotel on a rainy day. Saw many things that you dont see diving like a huge flying gurnard 2 feet wide.

as far as caribbeans go for me its bonaire but i agree roatan is good also. i just got back from west palm beach i must admit its neither of the two above but for the 50 states we have here i must say it was pretty good
