Does any one know the minimum light requirment for a 14" diameter green carpet anemone just got him and hes under attintics right now 56 watt. Will this do?

heck no you need lots lots more light than that also grreat water quality and lots of flow

unless you plan on upgrading the lights you should take it back to the LFS

I have mine under about 1400 watts of lighting, good water param, and steady flow. 56 watts will not do and it will show real fast.

Especially carpets, but just about any anem will need more light. Need big tank, also. No anem, expecially carpets, should be added to any tank(right qualities or not) for at least six months...you need to learn about these guys before you own one and you need to learn what it takes to keep your tank stable also.

Take him back if you can...If you can't trade him to someone who can care for it.

A minimum of 8W/gal of high intensity(VHO, HO,T-5) lighting should be acceptable, but still on the low end. Better to have at least 5W/gal of MH combo.

i've kept a grey/greenish one and also a dull lime yellow carpet (s. haddoni ), in a 18"d x 18" w / dsb under six 48" 32 watt zoo med t8's for a few years before trading them in . they grew from 4" & 5" to more than 18" . would not have kept a bright neon green or blue one under that lighting , i'm told they're collected in shallow water . s. haddoni anemones are also found in deeper water , some will do well in lower light levels such as those that are acceptable for bta's . you would need to get more lights but (unless your tank is rather deep and or in a dark room), don't need a kilowatt of high intensity discharge bulbs , vho , ho , pc or ho t5's to keep them . the watts/gallon rule is too generalized (watts are a measurement based on generated heat not light), depth of tank output of bulbs , reflector material and ambient light level of the room are factors not accounted for . a good way to do it would be to find out the lux/lum output of your bulbs and shoot for 13,000-15,000 over your anemone . good luck

ok sry i forgot to say that im gettin for ho t5s with tek reflectors in 3 days so it should be ok till then it actually looks happy right now
