New anemone I purchased but I am not sure what type it is. I thought it was a S. haddoni from the online photos but now, I am not sure.

It is about 4+" wide....

Thanks.
I've never had an H. crispa.... I will need to read up on their requirements.

Will it be okay in a tank with Stichodactyla carpets?

I know it hasn't been that long at 10 days but so far so good. It has not moved nor deflated and is eating well.

Is its mouth always open like that? After 10 days I would hope that it would have closed up by now. But, it does look like it was a little beat up before you got it -- judging from the tentacle length, so it just might take longer to settle in.

Have you noticed any difference in your Gigs?

I too was hoping the mouth would close up but it hasn't yet. The only time it closes is after it eats. Weird...

I did purchase a S. gigantea at the same time as this H. crispa (thought it was a carpet) and the S. gigantea, though bleached is doing well. I should start a thread about it also....

The purple S. haddoni that I have had for approx three years is still doing great since I added these two.

My plan is to replace my huge S. haddoni with a more fish-friendly carpet but I want to make sure the S. gigantea is going to do well.

If it's crispa, it's a very upset crispa. It looks more like malu to me. Not enough tentacles on the interior of the oral disk, to be crispa. It also has much more numerous tentacles on the perimeter like malu.

I sure would like to have a definative ID on it.
I guess we'll just have to wait until it grows more?
