carpet anemone qT?

im getting this carpet anemone, but my tank hasn't fully been set up yet. Would it be safe to put him in a QT tank with a heater, lights, and flow until i finish setting it up. Or should I throw him in my other tank (which is a bit crowded) and take him out when im done with setting up the other tank.

p.s. everything that is going to be in the new tank is coming from my 1 year + tank.

I would wait on the carpet if you could. if not I would make sure that if you put him in a QT tank, that you've never used copper in that QT tank (traces left could hurt him) and that everything in the QT tank is as close to the permant tank as possible, i.e. same type of lighting, flow, substrate, etc.

even when all i am doing is moving stuff from my old tank to this new setup? would it cycle? what i was planning to do was move all the stuff over.. and do waterchanges ...

But in the mean time the anemone is having to adjust to so many changes and instability.
For long term success I would suggest waiting.

yeah, it's sort of hard because inorder to setup my new tank i have to move the LR/LS from my current tank to the new tank... leaving the carpet with nothing...

i guess i am in a tight situation.

Where are you getting it from? An individual or an LFS? Any way they can hold it for you?

from an individual, i think he needs to get rid of it too. picking it up tomorrow...argh...

What kind of anemone is it? haddoni? gigantia?

It is stressed. keep your water parameters steady. Looks like a haddoni, that's a good thing, they are a little less demanding.

I think you'll be OK.

when the mouth closes does that mean he's not stressed? cus his mouth is shut and now he's huge! he's right now under PCs... how long will he last under 80 watts

These guys are pretty rugged for an anemone. The 80 watts ain't enough.
If his mouth is shut and expanded like you describe I think he's happy. feed him well especially with the low lighting.

when using a qt tank for invertebrates you should remember that copper additives used in curing many fish ailments are deadly to anemones and can remain latent in silicone joints especially; and even in/on the glass to an extent.

it goes without saying that you should also start with a fresh mix of water...
