carpet anemones - how to tell difference?

Fretfreak13

I am not a boy!
I have a very untrained eye when it comes to anemones. A very good lfs near me has three in. One is red, one is green, and one is purple. They are all from different sources and the owner has had two of them for five+ years. He's not around for me to ask and I'm just curious, how can you tell the difference between gigs, mags, and haddonis?

Thanks!

Gigs will have little dotted spots on the outer side of their oral disc right where it meets the anemones foot and up, and around. Haddoni has tentacles that are shorter than gigs but both can look the same under less than ideal conditions that local fish stores tend to have. I am very positive that the red and the green anemones you saw are Haddoni and purple is a gig. Green gigs exist too but green Haddonis are more abundant. So my guess is purely statistical. Of course if you posted pics it would have been easier to ID and point out differences and similarities.

Here are my two former anemones.
Green gig and metallic green Haddoni in that order
