nothing personal, but given the effects of blue light at depth and wb settings on cameras, generating a false or overly enhanced color appearance is simple. you don't even need photoshop to do it.

I don't think you know what you are talking about...that picture was taken with flash and a red filter. Look at the color of the anthias...does their color look altered? Please...I have read so many false and questionable statements in this thread, this has to be one of the worse threads ever.

look at the color of the coral... when is anything in the ocean that green to the natural eye? My friend, your WB looks completely off in that photo and that coral would look nothing like that in our aquaria.
Please, do indicate what false information is present and since you have indicated it as such, please provide the reasoning behind the claim.

I couldn't get a clear shot of this coral but here is a pic with flash...do you still doubt it is yellow? Let's keep it real here.

Again...I USED A RED FILTER. What do you not understand here...I'm not trying to show it is green, rather that coral in question is YELLOW. The previous poster stated that these come in dyed...He is wrong, I'm sorry.
BTW, I would suggest you go back and edit your post as I edited mine immediately. I provided the wrong pic to begin with, and was refering to the wrong thread when I alluded to "false" information.

Your not making any sense man...the pic isn't about my photography skills, it was disproving the previous posters claim that turbinaria comes in dyed yellow. These are definitely now my finest pictures but blurry or not, the color is accurate...the first without a flash, the second with the flash.
What I understand is that simply posting a picture of a yellow coral in nature, one you readily admit you altered by using a filter, does not in anyway prove or disprove the claim that some yellow turbinaria's for sale in the hobby are dyed.
You still see yellow turbinaria from time to time also. Those are dyed.

I guess I don't understand how your picture proves that the turbinaria sp. shown in Anthony's article here is not dyed... :eek2:
dyed coral

The filter does NOT alter the color...again you aren't making much sense here. The coral in the pic is turbinaria...not just coral it's what the poster was refering to.
this was his statement BTW.
Looks to me like he is saying, when you see yellow turbinaria for sale it is dyed. Not that sometimes they are dyed...

If you want to debate photography and corals, go to the appropriate forum. I simply asked for carpet anemone pictures and only a couple of people have come through.

Yes, let's keep it reall indeed. Please indicate where I said that it was not yellow?
And is this two photographs of the same coral? It looks to me like you are overly saturating your picture.
