Carpet Anenome

Hi there,
Was looking for some informaion and experience on the carpet anenomes. I saw one in the LFS the other day and was stunned by it's colour. Few questions:

1. Will clowns host to the nem?
2. Will the anenome move alot?
3. What kind of lighting would you recommend for it?
4. Is it the sort that will eat my scooter blenny?

Certain clowns will host in it. Others will avoid it and others will also try and be eaten possibly.

Nem will stay in a spot after it found what it likes. Needs good flow, strong light and great water conditions.

T5s (individual reflectors) or MH is your best bet.


Most likely will eat your scooter blenny. Just ate my Yellow watchmen goby.

You need to accurately ID the anemone. There are some Atlantic anemone that are selling as Carpet anemone that will eat everything trying to use it as host. There are three species of Clownfish hosting anemones, each have species of clown fish that they willl naturally host. Find this in the FAQ.
If you can post a picture, we can help you with ID the anemone. Most anemone are not for beginner. They are not easy to keep.

I'm pretty certain it was "(Stichodactyla haddoni)" and it was a nice size.

Having read through the FAQ's i've found out they'll only host to:
Magnificent/retteri/skunk anenome
Spotted base carbet anenome
Giant/Carpet Anenome

So i may consider buying a carpet in the near future

did you read his post? He is basically saying that he was pretty sure it was a haddoni and that he read through the faqs and found what type of clowns hosts haddonis and now he wants one in the near future.
