"Carpet babies"

I have a very large(20" across) green carpet that looks like it is trying to have a little one. It is a small, dime size, growth on the back of the animal that looks like a small anenome. Is this normal?
I will try to get some pics.
Thanks

Sounds pretty sweet to me! I have heard of this before, unfortunatley no one has been able to provide pictures of this happening. Most people call it budding. Be very interesting to see.

I will try to get pics tomorrow. The "bud" was in between it's eggcrate that I am using to keep it in a certain spot. Mon it was right up against the acrylic but I didn't have the camera :(

I've seen a pic or two of this before, very cool. I don't know of any being raised successfully.

Best of luck.

Hi Charlie,
Been busy. Don't get here much. Everything is good.
Does anyone know how long the "bud" will go til it comes off(if ever)?
Thanks

The one time I read about his on RC, the reefer tried to cut off the bud after leaving it alone for sometime. The bud died.

Here is a pic of when my haddoni developed a bud. It started on top and then inverted. Unfortunately, the anemone died before the bud could develop much further.

There was one thread where the bud did developed. Eventually it got bigger and there was only a small attachment at the base. The process took somewhere between 6 months and a year.

Wow if we could only under stand them enough to get the bud to drop and what can help to increase buding ! Good luck and awesome pics!:)
