Carpet Rescue

Have you ever gone into a pet store for something and saw something that you had to buy before it died?

I went into one of the giant chain petstores today for poo bags for our dog and happened upon a carpet anemone. He was sitting right at the top of the tank struggling to get as much light as possible from the skimpy old florescents that they had. His color was ok and he was sticky, but he looked miserable. I had to buy him and bring him home.

I hate those big chains...

Will post a pic or two once I get him settled in. Im about 90% sure he is a S. Haddoni but an expert confirmation would be great.

If it was a petco and im pretty sure it was, most likely its a atlantic carpet anemone.

I was in a petco last week and a guy kept telling me that the atlantic carpet they had was from the indo pacific.

Dont trust them.

I tried to avoid those stores as much as possible. Livestock if identified can be iffy. I will say, I did pick up a baby hippo tang a year ago, and she has grown up to be nice an fat, and the price was too good to pass up.

I have had many carpets, but it just takes getting a healthy one. You might try to put small food in to the mouth. Time will tell.

There was no ID and no one there had a clue. Sort of looks like an atlantic and if so, I am going to need to rehome him since I have a lot of fish, most of which I dont want eaten.
