Do carpets split in the wild or are they sexual reproducers?

yes they do split in the wild and very rarely in captivity too, a local reefer just had one split on him. that was the first time i heard of a carpet splitting in someone's tank

It depends on which "expert" you are talking to. Some say yes, some say no and that any division seen in captivity is the result of an injury of some sort.
