A flower anemone fell into our haddoni carpet luck we saw it happen and were able to remove it quickly but the carpet has some discoloration and appears to have been chemically burned. What can/should we do other than run charcol.

I hope you mean carbon and not.

Try to limit your tank to one species of nem at a time.

Carpets are a mean one and they will try to eat anything they get their hands on.

I would have to say that Flower anemones are a little tougher than haddonis.
There's not much you can do, other than keep them apart at this point. I would start looking into what caused the flower anemone to let go. That's very unusual, and probably a sign that something is wrong.

Do some species of carpet anemones attempt to eat other anemones? It is certain that carpet anemones compete with other species for space and food, but how do they do it? The behavior you saw is a clue.

My wife was moving stuff around the tank and knocked the flower anemone into the Haddoni which closed on it.The flower didn't survive being ripped out of the carpet, those things are very sticky!
The carpet looks much better now I did a 10% water change and put fresh carbon bags in the filter socks.

The Haddoni must not have been hurt much as it just ate a blue morp tang.

Yowza. It's amazing to me how little you hear of long-tentacle anemones and h. magnifica's eating fish, yet you hear all the time of these carpets doing it, and they have such short tentacles.

Sorry to hear about the loss :(

The tang was added friday and just getting used to the tank. The carpet has been well fed but was shaded from light to adjust to a new tank.Thought the saddlebacks would keep other residents away.Guess I need to worry more about everything else in my tank and less about the haddoni.
