Carpet under PC's?

I have seen this tank at a local business, and they have a bright green carpet anemone in their reef tank. The oily lights it has over it are 4 X 65 watt PC's!! I cannot understand how this thing has been there for well over a year now! Can someone explain this to me? And I know that it is not fed alot, if ever at all, ... I feel bad, but it is apparently happy right? It does not move anywhere, and it is still there and doing fine, from the looks of it, ...

More light is always better, but in my experience saddle carpets(S. haddoni) can tolerate less than great lighting. I don't know the depth of the tank you are talking about, but I have kept saddle carpets in tanks ~15"-18" deep under PCs and Normal fluorescents at about 4 watts per gallon for many years.
Giant carpets (S. gigantea) are a totally different ball game. Someone else said this before, but I wish that the three species of Pacific carpets weren't all called carpets. It would eliminate a lot of confusion.

ok, well the tank is a standard 75 gal, so maybe that is why, ... anything else to go on? I always heard they (carpets) do require some serious TLC to keep them, ...

A good healthy S. haddoni can be pretty resilient. Again, using the word carpet is way too general a term when talking about anemones. If anyone ever gives you advice about anemones and they lump the needs of all "carpet anemones" together, you can be pretty sure they don't know what they are talking about.
