Carpets at LiveAquaria

Did you see the price on the haddoni?!

PS, here's a pic in case it gets sold. Best looking nem I've ever seen.

Is it just me or are they out of their minds crazy on some of those prices? How can they charge $190 for a pair of pink skunks? They are a nice color, but I have never seen those in a store for over $20 apiece. Not exactly a tough fish to pair or collect either.

I can't imagine they would have two pairs of proven spawners and not mention that in the description, never mind that pink skunks are notorious for spawning then giving it up and not spawning again.

I have a pair that are on a regular schedual of spawning every 11-12 days, even through the loss of the male (jumped :( ) and adding a new male the next day (had been alone at a reputable store for a few months, I took the gamble ) . Last night we collected over 1000 fry from the pair. Their egg patch count was 1225. So.... 1000/2 x189.00= ... <gasp> :D

I just assumed that it was implied that they were a breeding pair when being sold as a pair...otherwise seems you'd just order two singulars.

I would guess that they are wild collected and quite possibly just a large and a medium sized one thrown together. I'm not baising that on much other than recently seeing a run of WC "mated pairs" at different stores which were pink skunks paired with orange skunks and they showed behaviour of just having been introduced.

Skunks pair super easily, but pairing and breeding are two totally different things with them. I wouldn't expect my pair to lay eggs if I moved them to a different environment.

That may very well be the case. We (as in the lfs I work at) don't even get wild caught clowns anymore--there is just no need to anymore, IMO. I've seen plenty of adult TR skunks of both species that look just as spectacular.

Amazing anemones. Man I wish I could find something like that. It's just as well I can't order from them (I'm in Canada), at those prices it would be instant divorce. "You bought a what for how much and you think there's only a 1 in 10 chance it will live to see February?"

Not saying anything bad about the vendor, just saying that carpets are dicey at first under the best of circumstances and I think it would take some major courage to mail-order them, let alone at prices in the several hundred dollar range. Yes they're rarely available and I guess that means you have to do what you have to do, if you want them that bad...

They're quite spectacular though. Man I wish I could buy them.

You would think they could throw in shipping for that price.
I believe they're selling the red Haddoni for very close to what it cost them wholesale. ;)

Are you kidding Gary?? They're WHOLESALING at $900 nowadays? That's just crazy!!

A few years back I passed on a red haddoni for maybe $100ish because I "didn't have space at the time." Well .... I guess I truly am an idiot for not trying harder to find space now.

That stings .. wow that really stings.

I thought I'd get hammered for that one. I just wish they included shipping for orders over $225.00 like they used to.
