hey guys. Ive gott a blue chromis here ripping my tank apart, refusing to live with ANY amount of othehr chromis...dumb thing attacks my dottyback, hermit crab, snails..hes gotta go

Problem is theres NO CATCHING HIM with all my rockwork and corals.

I thought a minute, and realized alot of people have giant setups, with 50-100gallons of water, tons of pounds of rockwork, and they manage to scoop em out somehow

So how do i catch this little bugger?

thanks in advance!

i take a water bottle, cut the top off at the point where it starts to narrow. then i invert that and push it into the bottom half of the bottle. i throw a piece of food in there and wait for the fish to go in and eat the bait. they never seem to know how to get back out lol. waa laa!

You tank is pretty small, just start draining the thing down into a tub. It will pretty much stop the running for the hills thing...

Hillbilly fish catcher works too.... Extension cord, split in two... one end here, other end over there and "Plugger" in....

I've got my fish eating out of a net. Now when I stick a net in the water they dash into it to get the food. Sneaky.

I leave the net in overnight and let them get used to it. Next day, when I feed them, I scoop them out.

Fishing pole haha. A cpl weeks ago my hubby was fishing in my 150 for my 6 inch jewel damsel. He would bite but couldnt catch the little bugger. Hubby had fun lol. Problem was all my other fish wanted it to.
I also tried the bottle thing and that might have worked after a few days of trying and the fish was hungry but when the food lays on the bottom they lose interest.

I called my friend who invented a fish trap unlike any other ive seen. I tried that night but no go. Next day had him in about 5 minutes.
I wish I could tell you the secret but can't. I keep telling him to make them and sell them. It's not something easily made and he put alot of time and effort in it.

I saw a post of the net idea awhile back. Good idea if you train your fish and they're used to it.

Whatever you try besides ripping the tank apart sometimes it takes a few days before they arent afraid of it.

kass

Check your LFS and see if they have a loaner fishtrap. One of our area LFS has one they will loan out to ya, after you get the fish out they will even give you a little store credit for it. Not too bad. :)

I have 2 different traps that I've had some success with. What works for me is to take whatever the fish really likes to eat or nip at and put that in the trap.

As my hippo tang grew he decided that he liked my zoas and really started to chow down on them. He loved a certain type of seaweed so I rubber banded some seaweed to a rock and put it in the trap. Next day-caught.

I had a flame angel that loved to eat my xenia. I put a small rock with some xenia on it in the trap and within a day, he was in the trap nipping at it.
