Caught by my carpet

Orion,

Sadly there is no chance for recovery at this point. The venom is attacking the fish nervous system and its in pain.

I had one orange shoulder with the same. He just slowly got worse and the flesh began to break down.

Sorry man. Do your best to make it an easy out for the little guy.

Sorry Minh. I have gone through that scenario with a yellow tang years ago. I actually saw it happen, and pulled him free. Like you I thought I had saved him. He also died the next morning. Again, I'm sorry.

yeah poisionous, when i had a carpet the times i transferred tanks he went into a 5 gallon bucket by himself. I lost a nearly fullsize engineer goby to him in the same type of situation. I wont own another carpet until i have over 300 gallons of room, even then i am still hesitant knowing they are killers. Having a fish 5+ years and losing them sucks. sorry for the loss.

In the early evening last night, I thought that he will live. By midnight, I knew that he is in problem and not recover. I can just see the way he was push around by current. I know that in the night he will get push into the carpet and get caught again so I put him on a wire basket hold on the the side with magnet. In the morning he was dead. Going to bed I now that when I wake up he would be dead but I did not have the heart to euthanize him (freeze in a bag). I had him for 5 years.

Man, this sucks. I would freak if anything ever happened to my PBT. I'm sorry for your loss.

Back in the day I lost many fish to various carpets. I've since decided they are only suitable in a species tank w/clowns.

Based on the way he was eating yesterday, I thought he would make it. Very sorry to hear. Those haddonies are definitely the biggest threat of the host anemones. I hope the new tank is up and running soon and the anemone settles in nicely. It's a pretty anemone, but I can imagine right now you might not think so.
