Caulerpa dying off?

I looked at my refugium this morning, and I discovered that most of my razor cailerpa is a kind of translucent brown. I don't know what happened to it. Just a couple of days ago it was expanding like crazy.

For a little context, there has been a bloom of cyano in the tank that I'm working on, and in the last week I'm starting to see hair algae all over the place. Are these evidence or causes of my problem?

What should be my next course of action? My water is testing just like it always has. Nitrates and Nitrites are undetectable. Was I too optimistic thinking that the caulerpa would grow in these conditions? Should I start mechanical filtration right away in case the caulerpa completly tanks? (No pun intended)

And what exactly happens when caulerpa goes sexual?

My experience is that Caulerpa is not really that easy to get going. See if you can get some brill pad algea (I thinks its scientific name is something like "Cheato" something...). This stuff is easy to get going, easy to keep going and does not have some other negative issues that many caulera's are know for.

Yeah, I did a little more reading, and I think that the caulerpa went sexual. Whether it went sexual or not, it is very much mush now.

I've ordered some chaeto (it really does look like a brillo pad!). Hopefully it will do better

Remove all caulerpa that is dying, that is a heavy addition of nutrients and will make your Cyano and algae problem worst.
I would also make several water changes.

I've been trying to get it all out. Hopefully I got most of it before it disolved.

Yea cheto is better stuff, but I dont think that the razor dieing was not because it went sexuall.
What is your lighting schedule for your fuge? Try to keep it on 24/7 because that will keep it asexual.
Do you have a protein skimmer?
