Caulerpa racemosa

A long time ago my DT had Caulerpa racemosa growing very nicely. I kept it trimmed. Still there was a patch spread out about the size of a dinner plate. Now i had assorted Acros growing in the DT as well but, during the day the PE was almost non-existent. Then one day the entire patch of Caulerpa racemosa died, turned white and all the green...went into the water,(went sexual???). At any rate, THE INSTANT this green went into the water the PE of every coral went to 100%. I mean as fast as you can snap your fingers fast. It was a truly amazing sight.
SO, what exactly was that "green stuff"? If it triggered THAT type of feeding response from Acros, i'd love to be able to do it on a regular basis. Any input people?

No..i was just did a Google search on that. Maybe not such a good idea after all :(. However, be nice to know if there was some other source that would give that type of feeding response though.

Caulerpa racemosa

Yes, sporulation. It's asexual reproduction.

Pretty amazing thing to witness though. I could not believe to corals reacted like that. Guess i was lucky though. Guess it could have been a very BAD thing too. I removed the Caulerpa husks after the event was over. That's probably what saved my tank from becoming fouled.
