CB Latz experiences?

I've been looking at buying a pair of captive bred Latz clowns lately, and through my research found bits and pieces of info scattered. To my surprise there are only a few articles that I've seen. I know there is a breeder in Hawaii (Karen, I think is her name) who has had success with them.

Who has (or has had) a pair currently? Any tips, pointers, etc for Latz specifically?

I know wild caught specimens require cooler temps (in the low 70s) and are not the hardiest clowns. Is anyone having success with CB fish in the upper 70 degree range?

What about anemone experience? I'm leaning toward a few bubble tips as I've heard they can be rough on their anemone hosts, especially carpets.

Max size? Any other information, experience, words of wisdom, pictures, etc... All welcome. :D

I had a single one from Karen and it fared well but, they prefer to be hosted by an anemone bubble tip , lta. They are less stressed that way at least in my experience also try to not put them with aggressive fish cause it will be harassed and may jump out of the aquarium,it happened to me.

Thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear your fish jumped, though. :(

I plan on having a number of different BTAs in this tank, along with a screen top, as I've heard these fish can be a bit skittish. I'm going for a Latz/BTA themed tank overall, and don't plan on other fish. Maybe a neon goby or something similar.

Did you have aggressive fish with your Latz?

Never kept them, but they're on my bucket list. They're beautiful. I've heard that they can be little skittish and tricky to pair because of aggression.

If you go to this site and do a search for Amphiprion latezonatus, you can find a few videos of them in the wild--mostly in greenish BTAs, it looks like. I think a biotope-type setup with some green BTAs (and even some kelp-type macros as I've seen in one video online) would make a great display. :)

They're definitely a beautiful fish. Hopefully I will have good luck with them. Thank you for the link. Ill check that out now.

Does anyone know the max size these clowns get to?

the guy at aquatic warehouse has cb misbar, and wide band for sale every week(in pairs :deadhorse:) for 200misbar - and 310 for wide

Yes, I did have other agressive fish but They were fine together, the problem was with a black ocellaris that was territorial and was chasing and harassing the Latz until he jumped into my overflow, after I put him back next day he was floor surfing ! But if you plan to have only the Latz with bta and cover your tank,I think that you will succeed.

I have a pair from Karen. They are great fish. I have mine kept with a bunch of tangs, cbb, anthias and a pair of picassos. My tank is big (300 gallon 8ft) and temp is between 79 and 81. They are hosted by a BTA and have a clutch of eggs every few weeks. Appoximate size is 3 inches. I have had the pleasure of seeing Karen's setup. Her breeding latz are closer to 4 inches in length. Hope this helps

Thanks. This definitely helps.

I have a question.. Are the wide bands found on the wild caught fish as pronounced on the captive bred fish?
