WHY? mine seem to be doing fine in sand for 6 months (inside a plastic container)

in the reef there is no sand bed.

the sand that was in the containers, perishes that it asphyxiates them.
this was the motive of the change.

Glad to see this old thread has been revived as a big fan of these anemones! I still want to find a harlequin crab (lissocarcinus laevis or lissocarcinus obicularis) to be a guest in one. Never have been able to find a source for these. Supposedly periclimenes magnifica will hang out in them.
