Chaetodon larvatus

They only eat acropora polyps. I once kept the similar triangulum (baronessa?) butterfly alive for a few months feeding it Ocean Nutrition VHP formula stuffed into dead coral skeleton. I wouldn't recommend one.

Peter I fell into this critter and in the past we have kept declivus as well as semilarvatus in sps tanks w/o major damage so with caution I decided to give her a try, understanding the issues at hand and the possible diet problems.

So you have it in your SPS display? Well, it'll eat fine then :)
lol Peter so far so good/ If she turns the fish trap.
My feeder goes off 5x a day, since my debnitrator went in no issues with feeding and trates.

Is it eating any prepared foods? Judging from the second pic, it is quite skinny :(

Peter is a hard sell but I feed a prepared mixture of tons of mollusks/clams/shrimp/spirulina/selcon etc etc etc made by a local reefer and chef.
He started nibbling away at some today.
This little venustus loves that food- I got him to eat so hopefully she will 2.

No, that is not a "nice picture" that is an incredible picture!!!! But good luck with your Chaetodon larvatus; I thought they were an obligate coral muncher.

I second that. I'm speechless. My semi pair ate all the corals in the tank and they've to settle for cherrystone on the half-shell only once ever 7-10 days now. :D

There was a guy that posted on RC about 4 years back that had kept a pair for quite some time. He had pics of them & a special feeding tube he used was shown in the pics. I can't seem to locate it on a search, but it was the only success story I've heard of.

I would be very surprised if the fish was able to make the transition without health issue. Millions of yers of adaptive evolution is hard to undo in a few weeks. Good luck to you, gasman, you are taking on quite a challenge.
