Lovely...how do they get along, especially during feeding time?

And please keep us updated on what they eat in your reef.

Peter I knew u were going to get a kick out of them-- u freak( butterfly fish that is LOL)

I'm not really that concern about their behavior since my tank just crashed and its on the mend so many of my prized corals are out.

They are lovely and eating prepared as of now-- hopefully they wont get a taste for my clams and if they do, well so be it.:wildone:

As far as getting along they are together like teenagers ALL THE TIME, including feeding time.

I recently saw one of these and was considering it for my reef. Just wondering how they were getting along with your corals and clams?

Sad to say one passed-- she was always lagging behind in terms of eating.
the other one eats rogers reef food like its going out of style.
The clams are fine as well as corals--- I've never had polyps since I house large angels so no biggie there.

Sorry for your loss. I'm thinking I am thinking I may take the plunge, thank you for your response.

sorry to hear about the loss. that's sometimes tricky when having monogamously paired butterflies.

the other one lags behind.

in fact, mertensii and other species of the "xanthurus" complex do not always form male/female bonds in the wild. there are instances where male-male pairs are formed and they together, protect a territory.

i believe this goes for other species.

no idea how it would impact the social and feeding response in the tank though.
