Chalice & lighting

Hey all,

Im more into sps, but i have a few chalice near the bottom of my 40g breeder ~ 24" below a 250w 14k.

Im wondering if i should lower it to the absolute bottom (another 5") or will it not matter all that much. My miami chalice is sorta pale, nevertheless it is doing good. Eyes are spreading and its happy.

Just curious how YOU get the best colors from them

I had problems with pale chalices until I really shaded them. I have one under the shade of a monti cap and it's colored up really nice for me now.

and if i were you it would be more benifitial for your tank to have 2 150s rather than 1 250 , a 250 over a breeder is alot of lights... i had one and it took almost 3' before everything stop being fried. then all the light was going everywhere,

Weird? I rly have no issues with keeping anything. All my sps are quite colorful and happy and the 250 is only a good 4-5" off the surface.
