Price gouging
Definition
The term price gouging refers to the phenomenon of sharply rising prices of items in (often temporary) high demand.

just because some people pay it, doesn't mean it's not price gouging.

Supply and demand. There is just not enough supply of these specific corals so what's it worth is hard to gauge. Being scarce plays a big role in the price fair or unfair does not really matter.

It goes through phases. Years ago it was SPS... rics, zoas, acans and chalices have all had their day.

Corals don't go through phases, People willing to pay these riduclous prices for certain Items do! The only reason they get these inflated prices is because they believe the Hype some Guy gives a coral a Fancy name and claims it's super rare. Most times this is not the case and the ones that pay these high prices make it more costly for all of us. JMHO

chalice names also remind me of the name they give weed at the dispensaries
.. im just waiting for someone to try and sell me hydroponic corals

Come to think about it. All corals are hydroponic grown. Lol

Plus you can always find chalice for $10 if you look. Like at 10dallerfrags.com (check them out he out of KY). But not no pink boobies and tyree watermelon. And need to take to account that these corals grow slow.

I'm not trying to justify the cost of some coral. but IMO most are prise all right.

yea i just thought the article would be a good read since it applys now to chalice .. hey im not saying i wouldnt buy em if they are rare and i had the money also i would sell my chalice for $2k/eye if people would buy them lol

Feel you man. I'll pay some high $$$$ but not a 1k an eye. And only if they are rare like my strip chalice's and that I didn't pay full retail price. Plus with me like my rasta zoas I paid $50 a plopy and now I sell them for $15 polyp when I have them FS.
