Well I got the Watermelon in, and it is PINK. I mean amazing. I already have some pretty nice echnos (including the RandyO pink) and didn't think it would look this pink. But man is it small. :lol: I love it though, its edges are entirely healed over and the flesh looks perfect so I'm happy.

How small is small. Smaller then a pea? Smaller then a dime?

The smallest frag I ever bought was about a pea size.

Pea sized but completely healed. It was advertised that way and he sent me this picture so I knew what I was getting. It was $135 which might be cheap, might be expensive - but I wanted to try the vendor (thecaptivereef) and I'm very happy I did. I got some nice things from him!

I never will agree with the prices of this stuff, including but not limited to micromussa's,acans,etc. Ya ya, people charge what people are willing to pay. But do you think a junky wouldnt pay 1000 bucks for a hit of smack if it was the only dealer in town and he had cash in hand? It's sooo hard not to go down the list of people known to do this, I dont to avoid business bashing, and lawsuits, but you can find most of em all on frags.org without any trouble Im not trying to brow beat anybody, infact from what Ive gathered you got an average deal for a beautifull coral Fliger. It just makes me ill literally to hear these prices that people are charging us. Especially if you knew what they paid for it, and make there money or most of it back off the first frag. Sorry to be "one of those..." and to go OT, my apologies to the thread starter.

No Problem Justin, to each their own. There are tons of beautiful corals available for much less. I also think its crazy to pay $135 for a pea - but I wanted the coral ... there has never been another one like it that I know of ... and I tried many times to get it unsuccessfully. Plus I've seen non-healed but slightly larger pieces go for much more. I just figured - in six months hopefully it will have grown, and I will be glad I paid that kinda cash for it. TCR is a business and I'm sure he paid a lot of money to get it so I can't really judge them. Personally I get rare stuff all the time and spread it around locally really cheap. I get my money back, make a few extra bucks, everyone gets a nice coral cheap and hopefully drop the price. I don't think I'll be able to do it with the Watermelon though.

Randy O can you give me some tips to get it to extend it's feeder tentacles so i can target feed? It usually waits till 3am or so and by then i really don't feel like getting wet lol

$135 for the pink watermelon is well worth it. also, you can find lots of corals on frags.org that are nice, but not the pink or red watermelon for sale (maybe once in awhile, but they are usually much more then $135). the asking price of the red watermelon for $550 recently on frags.org is alot of money, but look what it sold for on Tyree's site. imaging if that was on ebay, it would have fetch over $500 easily.

Steve T. said the red watermelon would have gone for quite a bit more on ebay but he now uses his own auction software. I was pleased with the results to say the least and feel it was worth it for me...maybe not for someone else but for me it was worth it.

Justin, I always try and give reasonable deals when I am selling frags. The watermelons I have will be no different but it will be a while before I try to frag either of my watermelons. I want to let them grow large enough to enjoy them. I can understand your perspective and pick and choose for myself what I am willing to splurge on. There are some corals that are going for more than I would ever pay and those corals are not the ones that catch my eye or make me drool . As Fliger said, to each his own. I really love seeing all the new and cool morphs that are out there. Its pretty cool to find some little treasure that looks all funky and on the verge of death and bring it back to glory colors and health whether it is the next LE or not .

Hey thats nice makoJ Funny you should say that it actually is a poor representation of the true coloring Cuz it looks exactly like one I currently have thats totally purple with pink highlights just like your pic. Man looking at your even the growth is an uncanny resemblence. I think I posted a crummy picture of it a few pages back or so, wish I could get a clear shot of it Im sure you'd trip out a lil too :spin1:
